Safety Tips for Baby Sleeping Arrangements

Creating a safe sleep environment is one of the most important things you can do for your baby's health and well-being.

Sleep Surface

Use a firm, flat sleep surface such as a crib, play yard, or bassinet that meets safety standards. Avoid soft surfaces like pillows, blankets, or cushions that could pose a suffocation risk.

Sleep Position

Always place your baby on their back for sleep. Studies show that back sleeping significantly reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Room Sharing Without Bed Sharing

Room share without bed sharing for at least the first six months, ideally the first year. This allows you to respond quickly to your baby's needs while maintaining a safe sleep environment.

Temperature Control

Keep the room at a comfortable temperature and avoid overheating. Use a sleep sack or wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm without the suffocation risk.
